Now all of this below sounds logical and self-explanatory, but you’d be surprised how many times that one fool misses their flight due to being a total mess on the journey to the boarding gate - don’t be that fool
#1 CHECK IN
Don’t wait until you get to the airport. Set a reminder when you book your ticket to check in online ahead of travelling. Printing your tickets and checking in before is bound to save stress as you wait in a long queue. If you have hand luggage then you’ll zip through and if you have checked baggage then often airlines have bag drop off zones
#2 PACKING YOUR BAG
When packing your bag keep all your toiletries and your electricals at the top so you can take them out at the security checkpoint quickly.
It’s tempting to try and throw a few extra toiletries in and hope you can get them through, but more often than not you’ll have to surrender your fave fragrance or your much loved hair products if they are over the limit. Don’t chance it, it’s not how you want to start a trip, and you’ll end up waiting at the end of the conveyer belt as someone flashes your knickers about from your bag as they go through it (total cringe)
#4 SKIP THE QUEUE PASSES & OTHER PROGRAMS
If you’re a frequent traveller, or if you simply just don’t like queueing then invest some time to look at programs like Global Entry that accredit you before travelling and enables you to skip large queues on both outbound and inbound flights. We aren’t all able to fly business class, so this is a little bonus at the absolute fraction of the price
#5 WHAT YOU'RE WEARING
Comfort is obviously top priority - but don’t make your outfit complicated. Shoes that slip on and off are essential, and keeping your jewellery to the side in a small pouch will make it easier to not be standing at the security line stripping off in front of a bunch of strangers. Keep accessories to a minimum, they can easily get lost and also left in the tray!
#6 STRAIGHT TO THE GATE
Ooh well, I see the draw for nosing about in the duty free stores but locate your gate first! Everyone thinks they have so much time to get to the gate but no, you don’t! There is even one gate at Heathrow Airport that takes 25 mins to get to, so hearing last call will mean you’ve missed it!
